ABSTRACT
O presente estudo teve por objetivo verificar as obrigações do profissional cirurgião dentista perante Lei Maria da Penha. Foi realizada uma revisão de literatura nos bancos de dados da Biblioteca Virtual de Saúde e do Portal de Periódicos CAPES. Foram selecionados artigos publicados após a promulgação da Lei 11.340/06, em língua portuguesa, disponibilizados como texto completo que tratam da relação da lei com a Odontologia. Conclui-se que o cirurgião dentista não deve apenas agir como promotor de saúde, mas também estar atento às lesões típicas detectadas com exames clínicos durantes sua atividade profissional.
The present study aimed to verify the professional duties of dentists regarding the Maria da Penha Law. A literature review was performed on the databases of the Virtual Library of Health (Biblioteca Virtual de Sa£de) and of the Periodicals Portal CAPES (Federal Agency of Support and Evaluation of Postgraduate Education). We selected full-text papers, written in Portuguese, which were published after the promulgation of the Law 11.340/06 and that addressed the relation between this law and Dentistry. It was concluded that dentists must not just act as health promoters, but also be aware of typical injuries detected through clinical exams during their professional activities
